World Future Energy Summit (WFES)
Reed Exhibitions has built the World Future Energy Summit (WFES) into the foremost, must-attend annual meeting for the global renewable energy and environment industry. The event includes a world class conference and a large-scale exhibition.
WFES 2012 witnessed the attendance of several global leaders including Wen Jiabao, Premier of People’s Republic of China, and Ban Ki-Moon, UN Secretary General.
With high-profile participants and thousands of visitors present, Reed was looking to deliver a seamless and high-quality experience to all WFES attendees. Visitor flow around the expansive venue had to be maintained with support amenities such as catering and the business centre effectively catering to the large WFES audience.
Reed also had a special requirement: The MS Tûranor PlanetSolar - the biggest solar ship ever built, was a featured guest and appropriate berthing facilities had to be provided to ensure the ship was integrated with the event.
ADNEC’s facilities and well-planned support infrastructure enabled the venue to lend itself well to this prestigious event.
ADNEC’s Abu Dhabi Hall - which has tiered seating for up to 6,000 guests, served as the location for the WFES opening ceremony and many of the major keynotes. The exhibition halls featured 650 exhibiting companies; the 19 Capital Suite meeting rooms were used for workshops, panel discussions, press conferences and meetings allied to the summit.
MS Tûranor PlanetSolar was showcased at the ADNEC Marina, located opposite the exhibition centre and accessed by a pedestrian bridge.
ADNEC’s two on-site hotels - the 5-star, 189-room, Hyatt Capital Gate, the 4-star, 408-room, Aloft Abu Dhabi, as well as the on-site Abu Dhabi International Airport check-in, provided added convenience to hundreds of WFES attendees. Despite high security, visitor and traffic flow in and around the venue was smooth and efficiently handled.
