The first edition of Abu Dhabi Global Healthcare Week (ADGHW) took place at ADNEC Centre Abu Dhabi 13-15 May. Hosted by Abu Dhabi Department of Health, organised by dmg events and supported by ADNEC Centre Abu Dhabi, this major government initiative seeks to create a platform for the local, regional and global healthcare communities to ‘accelerate the future of global healthcare’.
The event attracted over 11,500 visitors, 1,600 delegates and 271 speakers. Nearly 100 countries were represented and there were international and local government delegations.
The conference and exhibition took place over two halls and the airy Atrium space at ADNEC Centre Abu Dhabi while the conference tracks built were accommodated in Conference Rooms A and B.
An extensive conference agenda exploring four knowledge pillars featured the Future Health Summit, Live Stage Sessions, the Partnership for Health System Sustainability and Resilience and the Health Leaders Forum, an exclusive, initiation only forum for global leaders in the field. Over 250 expert speakers gathered to share insights and specialist knowledge.
The ADGHW exhibition featured innovations in healthcare technology from more than 100 international exhibitors and was the platform for announcements such as the launch of the Abu Dhabi Biobank, the region’s largest hybrid cord blood back as a result of a collaboration between the Department of Health Abu Dhabi and M42 an Abu Dhabi based health tech company and a number of strategic partnerships tackling pressing global healthcare concerns such as vaccine access and the fight against breast cancer.
The event was inaugurated by His Highness Sheikh Khaled bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Chairman of Abu Dhabi Executive Council. His Highness’ address underscored Abu Dhabi’s commitment to supporting investment in the healthcare and life sciences sector and the highlighted the Emirate’s position as a leading global healthcare hub.
